Ridgeview Estate was established in 1995 by Mike and Christine Roberts with a pioneering vision to create exceptional sparkling wine in the heart of Sussex. Many thought it couldn't be done, but the Roberts family was determined to put English winemaking on the global stage.
They found a beautiful spot beneath the South Downs Ridge, perfectly positioned to grow the traditional grape varieties used in the world's finest sparkling wine. The unique geology of Sussex shares similarities with north-east France, as the chalk of the downs runs beneath the Channel into France, creating ideal conditions for sparkling wine production.
With passion and determination, Ridgeview became leaders of the English wine revolution. Today, the estate is led by the second generation of the Roberts family, producing a globally acclaimed, award-winning range of English Sparkling Wine that makes every occasion something to celebrate.
The vineyard focuses on the classic Champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, which thrive in the cool climate and chalky soils of the South Downs. Ridgeview's commitment to quality and innovation has earned them numerous international awards, including being named "International Winemaker of the Year" at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
